  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

That's Frank's book jacket for when he pens his autobiography.

I can't believe its been only two years, actually. He seems such a part of all of the stories and the pictures. Life was much less colorful before that little grey kitty came into it.

The first time I came to visit Frank in his Ohioan Shangri-La, he brought me a chipmunk. Like his owner, Frank knows how to keep his guests well-sated.

Cheers for Frank, a jolly good fellow.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary!

That Frank's a lucky cat to have your affection, Claire. It shows in his eyes, ears, and his all-over-the-place confidence.

If there's another lifetime slated for me, please, God, let me be Claire's cat.
